| Pokemon Movie: Arceus: To the Conquering of Space-Time this an upcoming 2009 Japanese animated film directed by Kunihiko Yuyama. It is the twelfth Pokémon anime film and the third and final in the Diamond & Pearl trilogy. It will be released in Japanese theaters on July 18, 2009.
The title was first revealed on December 15, 2008 in an article of CoroCoro Comic as Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl the Movie: To the Conquering Space-Time. The amended title was later revealed in the March issue of CoroCoro comic.
Setting
The movie is set in an area based on Greece. In a featurette following recent episodes of the Pokémon television program, Yuyama noted that places visited included the Parthenon and the Meteora.
Synopsis
Many millennia ago, a meteor which threatened to destroy Earth was stopped by Arceus who intervened to protect Earth. While attempting to protect Earth, Arceus was badly injured and Damos took care of it. As gratidude, Arceus promised to help make the desolate land of Michīna rich and prosperous so it gave Damos the Jewel of Life.
Arceus let Damos borrow 16 parts of its body which merged together to create a jewel called the "Jewel of Life" which will be returned to it on a specific date. Arceus was betrayed by Damos when it had not returned and it vowed to judge humans when it awakens.
Many millennia after these events, Ash, Dawn and Brock arrived in Michīna Town. They decide to go the ruins of Michīna which are at the summit of a large rock. They arrive at the ruins, but suddenly, waves begin to form in the lake and tornado of water begins to wreak havoc.
A descendant of Damos; Sheena, runs out from the ruins of Michīna. Sheena saw what was happening and she summons Dialga, who manages to stop the tornado.
Ash and his friends finally get to see the ruins and Sheena and a man by the name of Kevin tells Ash and his friends about the old legend of Michīna. Moments after they explain the legend, the fighting between Dialga, Palkia and Giratina becomes fierce and the ruins of Michīna are destroyed. Arceus is then awoken.
Teaser trailers
The first teaser trailer was released with showings of Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Sheimi, the next showed Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina meeting to battle over a lake or ocean. Witnessed by Ash, Brock, and Dawn, they attack a shape of light resulting in a large blast resembling a nuclear explosion. The scene also shows a phenomenon resembling a solar eclipse in the background; this phenomenon is the main motive of the first movie poster.
The second trailer showed Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina fighting, causing massive distruction and bad weather. A temple gets destroyed with a new male character witnessing it, Arceus then arises from the debris. The next scene shows Ash and friends suddenly stop running and gasp, then shows a new girl character praying. Upon her prayer, Arceus uses Judgement, its signature move. The movie logo then appears with Arceus' name appearing with 16 glowing objects circling it for a split second.
